My "anti-resolution" resolutions.
Jan 06, 2023
Happy New Year!
I always find the time between Christmas and New Year a strange time - I'm sure you'll agree it often passes in a haze of cheese boards and not knowing what day it is! And then we find ourselves here, in January, with all the pressure to get "back on track" and make 2023 start with a bang. And if that feels like a good next step for you, then all power to you. But here is how I intend to start my 2023, I hope it helps you to find your way through the resolutions and goal setting and offer a gentler, kinder start to the New Year.
Veganuary. The "vegan" version is too hard for me, so I adapt this and go veggie for January. This will be my second year and I loved it last year, finding new recipes, playing with family options and making an effort to eat mindfully. I found that doing a whole month increased my veggie repertoire so I was able to eat less meat but still find nourishing, appetising options throughout the rest of the year.
Gratitude. I was bought a gratitude journal recently which is PERFECT. This is my only resolution for the whole of 2023 - daily gratitude - recognition for the things I love, gratitude for health and appreciation for the things that make me happy. Having dabbled with this in the past I know it's good practice to focus on the positive, and although I'm a natural optimist having just one journal line to write on for each positive means I can't caveat with "but" and "however" and I just get laser focused on the good and the great!
Pilates. Pilates makes me happy. Simple as that. Nothing challenges me mentally and physically in quite the same way. Gentle when I need rest. Mindful when I need headspace. Strong when I need challenging. My commitment to 3 weekly sessions remains my anchor. For me, good mental and physical health is rooted in pilates.
Outside. A daily dose, be it a dog walk, school run, coffee on a bench. I aim to appreciate all weather (even the cold!), notice the seasons, breathe, look up, get my vitamin D, and help my sleep!
I hope this helps you to come up with some resolutions that feel kind, nourishing and energising.
And of course I'm here to help you too. I have some fun plans for 2023 to get you strong and confident in your bodies - so here we go, let's make this a great year.
Hugs
