"I used to be so fit, but my core is the weakest it's ever been"

Wondering why your core/pelvic floor is suddenly letting you down?
In midlife this can be a real problem, showing itself as back pain, shoulder pain, incontinence, weakness, weight gain (or shape change), postural issues etc etc.
But why now..?
Usually I see big changes in a woman's core strength when they pass 40 - more often becoming an issue in their 50s.
This can be for a few reasons but is mostly a consequence of menopause and age.
- Reduced muscle mass
- Lower elasticity
- Decreased mobility and increased joint pain and muscle tension
- Reduced oestrogen increasing fat stores
And very often an issue from pregnancy 20 years ago (abdominal separation, pelvic floor damage, scar tissue) that wasn't rehabbed properly, can show itself as a "NEW" concern today.
My main take-away...it's not a done deal! All of this is completely fix-able, even when it feels like your core will never come back, the pain will never reduce and the pelvic floor is a lost cause.
How is your core in midlife? Experiencing any of the above concerns??

PS - core related issues are not specific to post pregnancy or menopause, I see equal weakness and pain in men! In midlife, we just need to pay more attention and give the core some love!
PPS - a great example...
